Prof Mak Yuen Teen

Prof Mak Yuen Teen is an associate professor of accounting at the NUS Business School, where he teaches corporate governance and ethics.

He served on various corporate governance committees for developing and revising corporate governance codes for both listed companies and charities in Singapore. Prof Mak is a member of the audit advisory committee of UN Women and has served on several large not-for-profit boards in Singapore, including as Chairman.

Prof Mak developed the Governance and Transparency Index, a ranking of governance of listed companies in Singapore. He was the Singapore expert in the development of the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard and Ranking. He was also an adviser to the Charity Council in the development of the Charity Transparency Framework and a former judge of the Charity Governance Awards. Prof Mak is a regular commentator on corporate governance in Singapore and the region.

Prof Mak received the Singapore Corporate Governance Excellence Award from the Securities Investors Association (Singapore) and the Regional Recognition Award for Corporate Governance Contribution from the Minority Shareholders Watchdog Group of Malaysia.

He holds first class honours and master degrees in accounting and finance and a doctorate degree in accounting. He is also a Fellow of CPA Australia.
