Admission Criteria

To ensure that only needy patients are admitted into the NKF’s dialysis programme, which is heavily supported by public donations, all applicants will undergo financial assessment through a comprehensive means test. Patients who can afford private dialysis care will be directed to private dialysis centres.

Patients whose applications are rejected can still appeal to the NKF Patient Appeal Committee. The Committee comprising members independent of NKF will review and decide on the merits of such appeal cases for admission to NKF’s haemodialysis programme.

Equitable Subsidy Policy

The NKF has worked out an equitable subsidy policy to determine the quantum subsidy that will be given to needy patients. There will be a means test conducted to decide the eligibility of the individual.

The quantum of subsidy provided by the NKF will depend highly on the financial and social circumstances of each patient’s family. Patients who have high income or are Civil Servant Card (CSC) holders will not be eligible for NKF’s haemodialysis programme. However, patients under extenuating circumstances can be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Dialysis Charge

Under the NKF’s co-payment scheme, patients and their families pay a part of the treatment cost with the NKF providing high subsidies from public donations. This is based on the philosophy of shared responsibility and is aimed at maintaining the viability of the NKF’s dialysis programme.
