Pump it up!

Your heart and kidneys are two important organs in your body. They work together to keep you healthy. When your heart or kidneys cannot function normally, it can lead to cardiovascular disease (heart disease) or kidney disease. It is important to do exercises to keep the heart strong and prevent the risk of hypertension, which is one of the leading causes of kidney failure. Here, we share with you useful tips to get started.

Getting started

  • Get a pair of good running sneakers – something comfortable to wear while you run.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to warm up and cool down with easy walking or gentle stretching.
  • Start slow without getting overly tired and gradually work your way. Do at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week.
  • Listen to your body. Take a break if you need to. Don’t push yourself too hard.
  • Hydrate yourself with plain water after your workout.
  • Don’t forget to get your family members or friends to join in too!
