Project ARK draws a symbolic meaning from Noah’s Ark – to help the disadvantaged weather the storms of life.
Fortinet and its valued distributors will work together to support NKF’s cause. For every unit of Fortinet appliance sold, the distributors will donate S$30 and Fortinet will match it with a S$50 donation. All donations will be channelled towards providing dialysis and subsidising financially disadvantaged kidney patients.
Fortinet aims to take part in this project as an effort of corporate social responsibility, and by doing so, has allowed the partnership between itself and the NKF to work toward helping needy kidney patients. While the primary focus is on providing affordable and sustainable renal care to needy kidney patients, the NKF also accounts for non-patients by offering community education and prevention of kidney disease through its key health message “care for your kidneys”.
These are the few key statistics that documents the current overview of kidney disease that Singapore and the NKF face:
• Every five hours, there is one new case of kidney failure in Singapore
• The NKF supports over 3600, about 90% of the nation’s needy kidney patients
• A patient’s average stay with the NKF is between 10 – 12 years and the average cost needed to support one patient is more than S$23,000 annually
• The treatment that our patients receive is highly subsidised with about 45% paying nothing and another 15% paying S$50 or less a month
