Mdm See Poh Suan, 61, had to undergo dialysis after being diagnosed with kidney failure in 1986. It was financially and emotionally challenging for Mdm See as her four children were still schooling and she did not have much savings. With support from NKF, she now only has to pay about $50 a month for her treatment. With the quality treatment, she has been able to get back on her feet and has been working at McDonald’s as a service crew for the past 26 years.
“I’m grateful to NKF for helping me with the treatment cost. They are also very understanding and arranged my dialysis sessions around my working schedule so that I can continue working and contribute to my family.”
As a Patient Advocate, Mdm See involves herself in NKF’s community outreach activities to provide social support to the elderly, visits fellow patients at various dialysis centres to provide encouragement and friendship as well as participates in NKF’s enrichment classes.
Mdm See is leading a productive and fulfilling life and treasures her time with her family, especially with her four grandchildren. She continues to inspire other patients to improve their well-being so that they too can lead positive and purposeful lives.
