With more than 1,500 participants, the event raised public awareness of the negative consequences of kidney failure so that people will not take their kidney health for granted. Participants were confined to a chair for four hours to learn more about the thrice-weekly, four-hour dialysis sessions which kidney patients go through. Most patients have to spend more than 6,000 hours in a dialysis chair to sustain their lives. This is the second time the event was be held and is part of a series of events NKF is organising in conjunction with its 50th anniversary next year. The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Health.
